Tokyo-based label mastermind JAPAN was launched in 1997, by founder Masaaki Homma following his years spent working for avant-garde genius Yohji Yamamoto. Mastermind Japan being exclusively for Japan and Mastermind World for the rest of the world. Combining streetwear with luxury fabrics unseen in the fashion industry. Homma’s premium menswear styles capitalized on artisanal Japanese manufacturing and introduced bold visual themes, with high-profile collaborations.
