Jan-Jan Van Essche
After graduating from the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 2003, Belgian menswear designer Jan-Jan Van Essche started his career in fashion. His debut collection launched in 2010 was named ‘Yukkuri’, a reference to the Japanese way of taking things slowly. Jan-Jan Van Essche explores traditional forms of weaving and garment construction, drawing inspiration from a multitude of cultural traditions. Van Essche design approach is sincere and discrete, executed in carefully sourced refined quality fabrics, rich in natural tones, delicate textures, and easeful silhouettes. His pieces are layered with subtlety, integrated into modern day life with waxed cotton outerwear, loose-fitting trousers and amply-proportioned pullovers and shirts in natural luxurious fibres.
