The poetry of Song for the Mute AW16

Autumn Winter 2016, Melvin Tayana and Lyna Ty, the design duo behind Song for the Mute, continue their development of fabric and silhouette in this collection, entitled POEME. The selection on offer encapsulates the title in its purest form, like ‘BELLE POÉSIE.

The lapelless blazer with hook fastening and the cropped trousers, created from a wonderfully textured scaled cotton, with artfully distressed hems, embodies the elegant ease that the designers are known for.

A grey crew neck knit sweater constructed from super lambs wool and silk and a raw silk t-shirt are the epitome of quiet luxury. Both emblazoned with an abstract shape which is reminiscent of a heavy brush stroke.

Wide legged baggy trousers continue the silhouette of fluidity and ease. Constructed from the same Gabardine, which is the signature of one of fashions avant garde pioneers. Once more, quiet luxury whispers to your skin.

As with most of the collections created by the duo, there is a nod to streetwear. Within this selection, an oversized parka with equally oversized pockets and drawstrings which alter its silhouette. Made from a backed wool knit, lifts it from the street to a higher platform.

Continuing with the fusion of elegant ease and streetwear, the wide legged shorts made from a wool knit and a oversized  sweatshirt with dropped shoulders, high cuffs and voluminous hood create the perfect balance.
